Short Bio
At an early age, I was aware of the artist residing within. Believing in the transformative power of art and allowing the sublime inspirational process of creativity to unfold is at the core of my work.
Statement
The transformative power of art drives me and is at the core of my work. My current and ongoing body of work is identified as "Bird Tribe"; Bird Tribe arises from years of seeking to uncover my authentic creative voice. There is an interconnectedness to everything within this body of work . . . a primordial energy . . . the connection to bodies of water where many great mysteries of creation persist . . . and my ancestral stream. Embedded within these works are precious memories of childhood and the sacredness of nature. In Bird Tribe, I seek the evolution of form through assemblage and subtle narrative. The assemblage process becomes a symphony of inspired impulse combining seemingly unrelated pieces to form a new contextual relationship of visual harmony.
Biography
As an artist deeply inspired by the vast beauty of nature, I have engaged with various artistic media throughout my career, with a particular affinity for three-dimensional work. My artistry is fueled by a passion for exploration and travel, experiences that heighten my senses and open up a world of endless creative possibilities. Visual art has been the cornerstone of my existence since a young age. I have enriched my creative repertoire by serving as a Visual Communication Specialist for half my working life, where I honed my skills in translating complex ideas into compelling visual narratives. Additionally, I dedicated 16 years to nurturing the next generation of artists as a high school art teacher. My work seeks to capture the essence of my encounters with the natural and the new, inviting viewers to explore the depth and breadth of human perception through my art.
